All transfers from analog to digital were made at 24-bit resolution. Mixed, transferred and mastered by Malcolm Addey at Malcolm Addey Studios, New York City Special thanks to Gerald Wilson, Russ Wapensky and the Institute Of Jazz Studies Producer's note: Although Gerald Wilson arranged for a number of Pacific Jazz artists including Carmell Jones and Les McCann, it was his decision to confine this set to just the albums that he led with his own orchestra. We wholeheartedly concurred. The music on the first four CDs is remixed from the original three and four-track masters, which improves the dynamic sound and often lessens the tape hiss that appears on the second generation LP masters. In three cases however (tracks 7, 11 and 15 of disc one), due to tape damage or missing overdubs on the three-track masters, the stereo LP master mixes had to be used. The last CD contains two album which were originally recorded on eight-track tape. Because the original LP mixes had little tape hiss and excellent sound and because remixing eight-track masters increased the chances of altering the original placement and balance, the original stereo mixes were used.
